Birthday plans...

As Lindsay's big 3rd birthday approaches, I am trying to decide how to celebrate. 3 seems like such a big milestone to me. Seems like a whole new world opens up...everything you see is listed for ages 3+...classes are no longer mommy and me, but are independent. Scary thought! My baby!

Anyway, she loves moonbounces and I was considering getting a mini-moonbounce and actually having a real kid party this year, inviting maybe 4-5 kids from daycare. She definitely has 'friends' now. I am so torn though - it's a big splurge, is this the right time? I know she would have fun but wouldn't remember. I have to think though, that even though no memories go back this far, that at least something is internalized from having happy occasions during this time.

So I need to decide this weekend so I can get invites out for it on September 8th. I want to meet her friends parents but at the same time I am nervous about having them to my house. I am not the happy homemaker type! But I guess these moms all work too (hence the daycare) and so might be in similar situations.

So we'll see!

Flip-Flops

Lindsay got flip-flops like Mommy's, and wouldn't take them off for days.

And of course another pic of my big girl....

Haircut

Lindsay got a haircut the other day. I was trying so hard to find a fun kids place, but I couldn't. Oh well. She did great anyway!

TGIF!

Happy Friday! Today Paige started clapping! It was SO cute! Lindsay and I started singing the Hokey Pokey, and at the end of the verse where you clap and sing, "That's what it's all about" Paige watched us and then started clapping too! It was soooo cute! I did it a few more times and every time, she clapped! I couldn't believe it! Did I mention that she is so cute??

Milestones

Yesterday Paige pushed herself up to a sitting position from laying on her belly. She did it so smoothly I almost didn't realize she had done something new!

AND - Chris claims that she took two small crawling steps last night trying to get Zoe. Of course, I don't believe it because I didn't see it. :) But it is surely coming soon! Time for some serious childproofing.

Oh so TIRED

Paige has been waking up around 5 am since the weekend. We don't have a CLUE what is going on! She does have a cold, which probably has something to do with it, but why the same time everyday? It is too weird. And of course we don't want LINDSAY up too at 5 am, so we rush right in and shush her instead of letting her talk in there for a bit. In general she is not waking up happy though, she definitely seems like she is calling for us...

On a funnier note, I bought her a crib toy yesterday. It has a feature where you pull on a cord and it makes music and lights and a little mouse goes around and around. Well, I haven't really seen Paige play with too many toys where she has to actually purposely pull or push something, so I didn't think much of it. So about 5 minutes after we put her up to bed, did we not hear music coming from her monitor?!? I thought ok, she kicked it by accident or something. I continue to hear music and now I hear her 'talking' too. I go up to her room and peek in - and is she not just laying there, with the cord in her HAND, pulling it over and over to get the music going! I couldn't believe it! What a stinker! Plus she had to turn her body upside down to the opposite end of the crib to do this! That girl is motivated. Needless to say, I took it out immediately. :)

I think she needs some more advanced toys than the bunch of teething toys we have for her!!!

Childproofing

We need to start childproofing for Paige.

Yesterday I left her alone with her toys in the living room for a few minutes (up until now a safe option) and when I came back she had rolled halfway across the room and was laying right next to some little pieces of CHALK for Lindsay's chalkboard. I rushed over and checked her mouth, but by some luck, had not grabbed and eaten one that I could see, although she grabs and eats everything! Whew.

Then she was in her high chair, not strapped in (we never had this need with Lindsay), and Lindsay went over there and proceeded to take the tray off and announce, 'Hey Mommy, I took this off!". Well it was the only thing holding Paige in and she could have fallen right out. AHHHHHHHH! I rushed over and nothing happened, thankfully.

It's going to be hard to pay attention to all this stuff. Eeeck!

We're Home!

Back from the beach! And everyone in one piece! Although it was close with Lindsay and Hope a few times....

Just kidding. A great time was had by all. We were SUPER busy! And although our condo was right on the beach, we really didn't spend much time on the actual beach. Turns out sand is a pain in the butt where little kids are concerned. Actually, Lindsay still wanted nothing to do with the ocean. I think it was partly my fault - I tried to make it fun with the waves chasing us, but that scared her! It was a lot of new things all at once for her, she did well, but you could tell her brain was about to start smoking. LOL. She did at least enjoy playing in the sand for a while this year.

Some of the things we did: Beach, indoor pool, outdoor pool, park/playground, boardwalk with merry-go-round ride and games, ate funnel cake and ice cream, geocached, went out to dinner twice, out to breakfast once, and saw wild horses. Whew! I'm sure I didn't even cover it all. All the adults managed to fit exercise in too almost every day. The weather was sunny and warm every single day.

We were so busy I didn't get to take a lot of pictures. I do have a few though that I will post when we download them. It turns out that Paige is a little smarty and starts smiling and posing every time we have the camera out. It is hilarious.

Fly By

Not much time to post in the past week.

Paige is sitting up unsupported now, she just needs some pillows for the occasional face plant. She loves to lunge at her toys (this is actually really funny, she gets this determined look in her eye and dives for it) and sometimes does it too hard! She also had peas for the first time tonight and ate them right up!

Lindsay says the funniest things and is such a big girl. She knows almost all her letters now.

That's all the time for now!

Travel Adventures

This morning we noticed that Paige's second tooth is coming through! The other bottom middle one. Yay!

Also today, I decided to go into the city to exchange my sneakers, and take the girls to visit my office while we were there. About 1/4 of the way into the journey I hear Lindsay say, "I have to go poopy." So first I say, "Ok, let's wait until we get to a potty!" thinking it might not be super urgent. Well, then a minute later she says it again, "I have to go potty". I take a deep breath. No problem, I knew this could happen, right? So we get off the highway at the next exit, which happens to be around Widener. And then, even better, her potty is still in the car from Sunday at BRoad Street! Score! So we find a parking lot, and we have a fun time sitting in the trunk area of the car and going poopy in the potty! woohooo!

Why would I want to go to work and miss this fun stuff! LOL

Broad Street

Today was the Broad Street run. Me and Lindsay headed down early to watch Chris run. This was Lindsay's first long outing since being potty trained! She did great - actually didn't even have to go at all while we were out. She holds it like a champ. Of course later today she had an accident in the midst of being tired, hungry, screaming because she was in time out and because mommy went to the store without her. Can't win 'em all.

Chris did AWESOME! He ran it in just under 57 minutes. Yay Daddy! I'll post a pic of Daddy and Lindsay at the race later. They are not downloaded yet.

Daycare update

The situation seems better now. I forget how easily she adjusts to things! She didn't seem bothered to be going there today. Her teacher said she is definitely developmentally ready for this class, and that the other one was just too young for her. Yay for Lindsay! Still total success with the potty all week, even at naps!

Her other friends will be coming into this room shortly behind her, within the next two months anyway.

Daycare worries

Lindsay has officially moved to the 'older' side of the 2 year old room. Her and Mary Kate both moved over. I am happy and excited for her to be moving up, but at the same time I am worried. She seemed really quiet and sad on Tuesday when Chris picked her up -- her two really good friends are both still on the younger side of the class. I know this is only her second day so maybe it is only an adjustment period. But this morning she asked me if she could hold her blanket, all sad-like.

I asked her teacher about it this morning and she said they thought it would be a good idea to separate her and Nicole for a while, because they get a bit rambunctious when they are together (Lindsay, rambunctious? nah....) Plus they thought it would give her a chance to play with the older girls. So I think they were doing it for her best interests. The teacher also said she was so quiet and played so nice that she barely knew Lindsay was there. I think she thought it was a good thing, but THIS worries me - that's not Lindsay!

Anyway, I want to make sure to give her some extra love this week.

Pictures

I love that it is so easy to post pictures on here!

Blogger!

So, since I was feeling especially relaxed and not too overwhelmed tonight, I figured I'd add something else to do just to get me up to my normal insanely busy life! Starting a family blog! Why not??

I'd like to start blogging about the everyday moments....I call people with all my family's exciting milestones, but how about those amazing moments that just happen randomly? I hope to give my family and friends a glimpse into how our days really are....

Today my amazing Lindsay went her first day at daycare with underwear and no accidents! I am so proud of her I want to cry. We had a good talk this morning about how she would have to go poop in the potty if she wanted to wear underwear at school. And she did it! She is so grown up sometimes I get teary.

And my baby Paige is changing so quickly...now she's sitting up and getting teeth. She is so alert and interested in the world. Just touching a tree the other day made her smile.

I love both my girls so much and I hope I can do right by them as their mother. It is such an amazing responsibility to have, to teach them all they need to know to handle this world successfully.

Welcome to the Earley Family blog!
